I Inherited Over N500Billion In Debt, He Brought Shame, Disgrace To Kano People – Governor Yusuf Lambast Ganduje

In a fiery exchange between Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State and his predecessor, Abdullahi Ganduje, accusations and rebuttals flew.

Ganduje, now the National Chairman of the APC, had his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, assert that Governor Yusuf should focus on governance instead of leveling unfounded charges.

Governor Yusuf swiftly responded, accusing Ganduje of presiding over a tenure marred by corruption, mismanagement, and nepotism.

He emphasized the ongoing investigations into Ganduje’s administration, including allegations of misappropriation and political violence. Governor Yusuf didn’t mince words, labeling Ganduje’s eight years in power as a period of failure and maladministration.

The governor’s statement didn’t shy away from highlighting specific incidents, such as the infamous video allegedly showing Ganduje accepting dollars, a supposed kickback from a contractor.

He vowed to pursue justice relentlessly, urging Ganduje to defend himself in court rather than through media campaigns.

Governor Yusuf also painted a grim picture of the state’s financial health, citing inherited debts and the alleged sale of state assets to Ganduje’s associates.

He underscored the seriousness of the investigations, insisting that they were not attempts to cover up but to root out corruption.

Furthermore, Governor Yusuf cautioned Ganduje against implicating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his corruption issues, emphasizing that justice should prevail without interference.

In essence, the statement from Governor Yusuf portrayed a narrative of accountability, determination to tackle corruption, and a commitment to good governance in Kano State, juxtaposed against the backdrop of allegations and counter-allegations between political rivals.
