Exactly one year since the 2023 presidential election, many Nigerians are yet to move on considering that the outcome of the election left a very bitter taste in the mouths of many young people who came out in their large numbers to vote for what they believed was a better future only to be disappointed by the results as announced days later by election umpire, INEC.
The INEC chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu has been declared ‘an enemy of Nigeria’ & a ‘weapon fashioned against Nigeria’s prosperity’ by the disappointed young Nigerians, hence dedicating February 25th as a day to lay ‘curses’ on him, exactly a year after the election in 2023.
Amidst the economic hardship caused by president Tinubu’s economic policies, these young Nigerians decided to identify who they believed to be the root cause of the problem and send a strong signal of discontentment by way of swearing and laying curses on the INEC chairman.
Some posts as seen on X today read, “To Mahmoud Yakubu, it will take your pains 365 days to complete a cycle, and start the next cycle the very next day.
“For squeezing the life out of Nigerians, for snuffing the last hope of the ordinary man out of him, the sun has set in your life, the moon will burn you, oh yeah in the cold of the night, you will be set on fire! an X account” @torty_mercy wrote.
Meanwhile, @von_Bismack wrote “Dear Yakubu Mahmoud,
“May allah swallow the earth beneath you.
“May Allah deny you Jannah.
“May you ask Allah for water, and he gives you sand.
“May this disaster that you brought upon Nigeria never depart your household until your 4th generation.
“May everything you seek turn to dust in your hands.
“May what money can not solve befall you.
Amin.”
It can be pointed out that these young Nigerians are bitter because they believe that Tinubu was not the choice of the electorates but rather an imposition by the ruling class which was made possible with a compromised election.
The X timeline is flooded with curses many young Nigerians directed at the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
