JUST NOW: ‘We Need You Back Home,’ Tinubu Begs Nigerians Abroad 

President Bola Tinubu has wooed Nigerians in the diaspora, saying the country needs them back home to invest in the nation.

Speaking during a town hall meeting with Nigerians on Wednesday in New York, Tinubu said they should rise above failure by having a change of mindset for success in all their endeavours in life.

“We need you back home, Nigeria has arrived. Forget the frustration of the previous years of leadership,” he said.

“I’m very proud of you; I am also a beneficiary of great Nigerians’ inspiration, determination, commitment, and perseverance. That is all you need to go through.”

The President who described Nigeria as a blessed country also commended the government’s efforts in eradicating out-of-school children, tackling poverty as well as providing healthcare.

The townhall meeting was organised by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.

The event was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar; Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola and the Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the UN, Amb.Tijjani Muhammad-Bande

Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States, Amb. Uzoma Emenike; Consul General of Nigeria in New York, Amb. Lot Egopija; and Consul General in Atlanta, Amb. Amina Samaila were also in attendance.

Governors in attendance include Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Uba Sani (Kaduna), and AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq (Kwara), among others.
