A security expert Group Capt Sadeeq Shehu says the current weather poses a challenge to pilots.
He made the comment on Tuesday, hours after a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) helicopter crashed in Niger State. Not death has been confirmed in the accident.
Captain Sadeeq said, “we’re now in the middle of the rainy season where visibility is low, the cloud is very low and operations are getting more. The weather is low therefore the chances of having accidents increase”.
“In commercial flights, whenever there is [poor] weather, and heightened operations, the chances of an air crash happening are increased but that doesn’t mean we should accept crashes automatically. But this weather is very challenging for every pilot,” he said.
He also commiserated with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) over the development, saying this incident “reminds of the risk and dangers” associated with air operations.
