Anambra Traditional Rulers Laud Soludo on Agriculture, Urge Ndi Anambra to Embrace Farming for Bumper Harvest

The Deputy Chairman Anambra State traditional rulers Council and traditional ruler of Okpuno, Igwe Sunday Okafor and other traditional rulers in Anambra have underscored the importance of Agriculture in uplifting lives and therefore called on Ndi Anambra to embrace biological farming for bumper harvest.

The royal fathers made the call during 2023 launching of farming season by the state Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo at Alex Ekwueme Square Awka.

Igwe Okafor who expressed satisfaction with governor Soludo and the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Forster Ihejiofor for the exercise, urged farmers to embrace biological farming as it will go a long way to boost bumper harvest pointing out that biological farming is beneficial to the farmers.

Igwe Okafor, also explained that it is difficult for a nation to survive without Agriculture and Agricultural activities not just because it is a source of food but it is connected to the production of all basic human needs.

The chairman Anambra traditional rulers, Central zone and the traditional ruler of Akwaeze, Igwe Christopher Okpala, the traditional ruler of Umueri, Igwe Beneth Emeka, Igwe Ezinato in Awka South, Igwe Timothy Ezenwaka and the traditional ruler of Abacha in idemili North, Igwe Godwin Nwabunwanne Odiegwu, applauded the glorious era of farming that Governor Chukwuma Soludo is bringing back saying that it remains the easiest way to poverty eradication.

They commended the Governor for palm and coconut Seedlings distributed free of charge to people and traditional rulers who can nuture them to fruiting stage.

On their parts, the traditional ruler of Ukwalla, Igwe Joseph Ajodo, the traditional ruler of Owelle Ancient Kingdom, Igwe Raymond Omoja , the traditional ruler of Umuoba Anam, Igwe George Ekwealor and his Uga Counterpart, Igwe Chidi Ezenwugo applead to the state government to come to their aids by making seedlings, fertilizers and other farm input available to them as they commence farming in their terrain by December of every year.

They implored the governor to come to their aid in Erosion control and construction of accessible roads to enable them evacuate their farm produce.

Inspection of the local government Areas Pavilions and Agro products at Stands by the Governor represented by his deputy, Dr Onyeka Ibeziem and the Chairman Anambra State traditional rulers Council, Obi Alfred Achebe of Oniy among other entourage formed the highpoint of the event.
