Senate Presidency: Akpabio, Umahi Others Visit Ooni of Ife, Seek Royal Blessings

Senator Godswill Akpabio, a former minister of Niger Delta affairs and senator representing Akwa Ibom north-west, yesterday, paid a courtesy call to the Ooni of Ife, as he seeks royal blessings for his Senate Presidential ambition.

Akpabio is among the top lawmakers seeking to be the next senate president when the 10th national assembly is inaugurated in June.

On Saturday, David Umahi, governor of Ebonyi state, announced that he had dropped his senate president bid and endorsed Akpabio.

Meanwhile, not too long, Governor Umar Ganduje of Kano state, also said Akpabio would be the next senate president fuelling claims that he might be the consensus candidate of the ruling APC.

Barau Jibrin, senator representing Kano north and Dave Umahi, the Governor of Ebonyi State accompanied the senate presidential hopeful to the Palace.
