Nollywood actress, Kemi Afolabi had returned to Nollywood following a year’s battle with Lupus.

Kemi Filani reported that the Yoruba movie star had left many emotional when she opened up on her battle with Lupus.

Following her bombshell revelation, many of her colleagues solicited help for her to receive the best medical care abroad.

Kemi Afolabi who returned to Nigeria last year, is ready to return to work.

While expressing gratitude to everyone who celebrated her birthday, Kemi Afolabi announced that she is back and stronger and more ready to work.

She told her fans to watch out as she has something cooking.

“I SEE Y’ALL FAM! I feel so blessed to be surrounded by true love in my corner.

I am thankful to my family, friends, colleagues, beauty vendors, Kemi Warriors, the media, and my realest fans around the world.

I appreciate everyone who took a few moments out of their busy schedule to celebrate my birthday.

Thank you for the messages, calls, comments, shout-outs, prayers, surprises, and gifts and for coming physically in person to celebrate my new year.

Kemi Afolabi opens up on her battle with Lupus

A year ago, Kemi Afolabi broke the internet when she opened up on her discovery of lupus, and what she had been through.

The beautiful Yoruba actress made this known to the public via an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, where she disclosed that she had been diagnosed with lupus and had just five more years to live.

“I have lupus. It’s not curable. You just have to take medications for the rest of your life. At a point I was exhausted after spending so much, I said I will stop and just wait for death to come ….but I brazed up for my daughter and have to continue spending the N1.2 million on the medication doze weekly to survive….I have sold my cars, property, capital for business, etc…..and Funke Akindele has been helpful, Toyin Abraham, Mercy Aigbe, and others reached out and have been there…but I still need more support to be able to continue with my medication…”.

Since then, many of her colleagues and fans had shown her love and support even as she battled the sickness.

Kemi Afolabi opens up on battling mental health

Speaking out about her mental health, she revealed that she had a mental breakdown over her illness.

Kemi recounted how she experienced anxiety, exhaustion, and depression. According to her, she hated everything that she was going through, not having the strength to do things she loved the most made her wallow in self-pity.

However, Kemi Afolabi expressed how blessed she is to have great people around her who showed her genuine love which helped her heal.

This made her, make a promise to herself, to stop dwelling on something she cannot change.

Only then, did she start getting out of her head by accepting the new her?
