Mixed reactions have trailed the unpleasant news that befell the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi on Friday.

Kemi Filani reports that a building apartment in the palace of the Ife monarch has been razed down by fire.

According to reports online, the courtyard of the palace was gutted by fire at about 11:30 pm on Friday, April 28, shortly after the electrical appliances in the affected apartment exploded.

The Palace Spokesperson, Moses Olafare, in a public statement, said the inferno was triggered by a power surge and has been brought under control.

Olafare stated that no causality and cultural items were lost during the incident, adding that the inferno did not spread beyond the Courtyard located at a section of the palace premises.

While many expressed concern over his wives and members of the palace, one netizen tried apportioning the blame on Tinubu.

According to her, the incident is coming hours after the Ooni called out Tinubu.

Ooni of Ife donates 100 hectares of land to Nigeria Peace Corps for training school

Just days back, the Ooni of Ife, had donated 100 hectares of land to the Nigeria Peace Corps ( NPC) for the construction of the South-West Zonal Training School.

The monarch said this at his palace during a familiarisation visit by the Corp’s Commandant General of NPC, Dr. Mustapha Abubakar, on Friday in Ife, Osun State.

According to him, the land is situated along Ilesa Road, Abayagani, Ile-Ife.

He said that the role of the Nigeria Peace Corps nationwide could not be overemphasized, particularly with the trend of kidnapping, banditry, and other insecurity threats.

He said that the corps must continue to demonstrate commitment aimed at making society safe and peaceful for citizens to live and stay.

The monarch further said that his love for the corps warranted the need for the gift to enable them to position their training ground for the southwest zone.

Ogunwusi thanked the corps for making him a grand patron and promised not to let them down in all areas where his attention is needed.
