In Another Life is one of the Nigerian films pulling weight in the Cinemas this month.
Brenda Ogbuka-Garuba, Emil Garuba, and Bem Pever produced, and Taiwo Shittu shot the film.
The film’s lead casts include Meg Otanwa, Uzor Arukwe, Nkem Owoh and Clarion Chukwurah. Other top casts are Maksat Adiele, Adam Garba, Tonia Chukwurah, and Collins ‘Shadyville’ Chukwu.
In Another Life, tells the story of a working mother of two who got her wishes on her 35th birthday, thanks to her wanna-be-music- star brother.
She finds herself living the life she always wanted but soon discovers that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.
The fantasy family drama is also about second chances and owning up to the decisions we make in our lives. And, of course, you can’t tell the value of what you have until you are on the verge of losing them.
We actually didn’t have high expectations of this movie, although the storyline was kind of unique, but at the end of the day, it was worthwhile.
Sometimes a film comes with such high potential but ends up disappointing you in almost every way possible; In Another Life is not one of such movie, as these veterans Nkem Owoh and Clarion Chukwura will succeed in making you look forward to the next scene.
The dialogue is good, the acting was awesome too. Meg Otanwa and Uzor Arukwe displayed a deep connection between them that one could actually forget that it’s just a ‘make believe’.
The picture quality is good, costumes and audio not bad too.
Well, at some point, you have to practically struggle to stay awake in the cinema because of some prolonged dialogue.
The scene where Meg Otanwa had to go back to her office, stormed the board room meeting easily and interrupted an ongoing merger meeting was obviously done in a rush and didn’t tell well of the scriptwriter or maybe the director.
We also love happy endings. In Another Life gave us a beautiful, happy ending that will leave you with smiles and contentment. 7/10 is a pass mark!
